Valentine's Day Meh

Photo by Helena Lopes on Unsplash

Valentine's Day is this week and, I must confess, I'm not feeling very valentiney. I love my people. At the same time, I'm not up to playing the role of Magical Valentine's Day Cruise Director for them. The end of January brought grandiose plans of sticking an encouraging heart on each loved one's bedroom door with kind words to be discovered every morning of February. Now, I'm hoping to pull off our annual V-Evening dinner of pink pancakes and sparkling cranberry juice. I've lowered my expectations and anticipate at least one child will smack or insult another during the festivities. BUT THAT'S OKAY!!

I hope for the best, but am open to deviations from my script. Somehow this attitude keeps me healthier than an obsession with perfection. If you're suffering Valentine's Day "meh" like me, maybe some of these links will get you in the spirit:

Here's a fun free printable detailing the characteristics of love laid out in 1 Corinthians.

Focus on The Family podcast about enjoying physical intimacy with your husband. This is a two-part series and well worth a listen (especially for those struggling with infertility....hello passion stealer).

A sweet and thought-provoking story about falling in love from Soul Pancake.

A cute article, Romance at the Fish Fry, about Valentine's Day and Ash Wednesday sharing the same date for the first time since 1945.

Happy Valentine's Day, Friends!

Until next time,

Sarah
